Brown Shipley, a Quintet Private Bank, today announces the appointment of Criona Sproson as Head of Human Resources.

Criona joins the business with a breadth of experience having worked in financial services for 10 years. She was previously the HR Business Partner for UBS Global Wealth Management (UK & Jersey). Prior to this, she worked as the EMEA Head of Policy & Employment and later as Senior HR Business Partner at Coutts. Previously, Criona worked in private practice as an Employment Lawyer, qualifying in 2005, before joining the Employment Law team at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Criona will be responsible for overseeing Brown Shipley’s human resources function. Her appointment follows Debbie Shaw’s decision to retire from her role as Head of Human Resources, after 16 years at Brown Shipley.

Commenting on the appointment, Alan Mathewson, Chief Executive Officer of Brown Shipley said, “I am delighted Criona is joining us as we continue to grow our business. She has significant industry experience having held senior HR roles at leading banks and will be vital in helping us continue to deliver our strategy.

“I would also like to thank Debbie Shaw for the tremendous contribution she has made during her time at Brown Shipley and for her tireless efforts in promoting the HR agenda and we wish her all the best.”

Criona Sproson added: “I am thrilled to be joining Brown Shipley at such an exciting time of business growth. I look forward to joining the Executive Committee and working closely with colleagues in Brown Shipley and in our parent company Quintet Private Bank.”
