Jason will have day to day responsibility for Internal Audit and will lead the Brown Shipley Internal Audit team. He will assist the CEO and KBL European Private Bankers, Brown Shipley’s parent company, to provide assurance to the Board, the Audit Committee and Senior Management that major business risks are managed appropriately, and that the business’ control framework and governance processes are operating effectively.
Jason, who will report to Alan Mathewson, CEO of Brown Shipley, replaces Drew Stafford who is taking up a new role elsewhere.
Jason holds FCCA and is a Chartered Member Institute of Internal Auditors. He was, until August 2019, Chief Audit Executive, at Citigroup Global Markets Limited and UK Head of Audit. He joined Citigroup in 2014 as part of Citi’s significant audit upgrade programme as Global Audit Director for Equities, Sales, Structuring, Research and EMEA Markets and Securities Services.
Jason started his career as an auditor at KPMG in the financial business unit where he also qualified as a chartered accountant. He then spent five years in fixed income derivatives product control at UBS and Lehman Brothers, before moving to work within internal audit at UBS and then Deutsche Bank.
Commenting on the appointment, Alan Mathewson, Chief Executive Officer of Brown Shipley said: “We are delighted to have secured someone of Jason’s calibre for this important role and we’ll be able to draw on his vast experience in leading internal audit functions to further enhance our control framework.”
Jason Haynes added: “I’m excited to be joining Brown Shipley at such a key moment in its growth and development, and I look forward to using my skillset to support this well-regarded wealth manager which prides itself in preserving and enhancing their clients’ wealth.”
