Quintet Private Bank – which operates in 50 European cities and is the parent of UK-based Brown Shipley – announced today the promotion of Rachel Macfarlane to Group Head of Legal, with immediate effect.
In her new role, Macfarlane will report to Maria Leistner, Group Chief Legal Officer, and be responsible for the delivery of legal work across Quintet. MacFarlane currently serves as General Counsel at Brown Shipley. She will continue in that role and remain based in the UK, whilst spending significant time in the offices across Quintet, working closely with the firm’s domestic legal specialists.
Macfarlane joined Brown Shipley in 2018 with responsibility for legal, corporate secretarial and corporate governance work. Earlier, she served as Legal Manager (Litigation) at Santander UK and before that as a solicitor at Cobbetts LLP, specialising in banking law.
Leistner said: “I am delighted to welcome Rachel to this role, following a competitive search process that included a range of external and internal candidates. The breadth of Rachel’s experience and her record in delivering – most recently as legal advisory support for the Brown Shipley Executive Committee – really made her stand out.”
Macfarlane added: “I look forward to working closely with Maria and our legal colleagues across Europe so we can continue to improve our proposition and better deliver for clients.”
